Ford Econoline 1965

The 1965 Ford Econoline can trace its roots to an unrelated vehicle: the Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter. The transporter debuted in 1950 and quickly gained a foothold as an economical utility van in Europe. Its popularity spread to the U.S. By 1960, Volkswagen’s cheap Beetles and vans made VW a significant threat to Detroit automakers. Ford answered VW with the compact Ford Falcon and used the Falcon frame to build the Ford version of the Transporter beginning in 1960. The 1965 model was part of the 1961 to 1967 generation, according to Macsautoparts.com.
